Creagh Concrete has launched a new Computer Aided Design (CAD) Technician Academy.

The Academy will provide 12 participants with the skills and experience required to take up new opportunities in the construction and engineering industry with Creagh Concrete.

The Academy will offer an intensive eight week training programme which has been designed to meet the specific needs of the company by Belfast Metropolitan College (Belfast Met). This will be followed by a four week company placement. Successful participants will gain industry recognised qualifications and be interviewed by the company on completion for employment within their Technical & Design Department.

Lorna McMullan, Human Resources Director, said: “We at Creagh Concrete are delighted to launch the first Creagh CAD Technician Academy, a training course which has been tailored specifically for our hollowcore flooring and stairs business.  It’s the first training course of this kind in Northern Ireland and will be a very positive step forward to reducing the current technical skills gap in our industry.

Applications to the Academy open on Monday 11 April and close on Wednesday 4 May 2016 at 4pm. The training programme for successful applicants will start on 30 August 2016. Training will be delivered by Belfast Met at the Creagh Concrete facility in Toomebridge.

The Creagh Concrete CAD Technician Academy is supported by the Department for Employment and Learning through the Assured Skills Programme.
